“A queer teen is forced to choose between their crush and their abusive god, who will go to horrific lengths to keep their devotion.”
Oak in Heaven is a 10 Minute, Queer Horror Short Film – that is currently in pre-production. Written and Directed by Ciasete (Chess) Metters, Poduced by Louis Vahl – and featuring music by Dublin based punk band Vernon Jane. Film will utilize paranoia, special effects and a Woolongong location – to deliver a deeply personal, and unnerving exploration of religion and identity.
”Oak worships a controlling god named Heaven in return for telekinetic
powers and moral enlightenment. However Oak’s blossoming crush on their
best friend, Elkie, has driven a rift between them, and Heaven will go to great
lengths to keep Oak “pure”…”
Ciasete (Chess) Metters [Director] is an emerging yet skilled film maker – who’s artistic voice concentrates on themes of identity and Queer experiences – often in a Woolongong context. Their previous film ”King of the Gong” explored Woolongong’s Drag King scene, and the embracing of identity.
Louis Vahl [Producer] comes off the heels of previous films ”That’s How we Roll”, ”Corner Store Dog”, and ”David Jones’s Locker”.
